Even though they are one of the oldest electric instrument manufacturers in existence, Rickenbacker has always managed to seem both traditional and futuristic
at the same time. With such idiosyncratic features as
cat-eye f-holes, shark-tooth inlays and gloss-finished
rosewood fingerboards, Rickenbacker has definitely
created a niche all their own. Associated with the
British invasion due to the Beatles’ high-profile use of
their six and twelve string models, the brand went on
to become an almost generic designation for an electric 12-string, spurred on by Roger McGuinn’s seminal
use of the instrument– ironically inspired after seeing
George Harrison playing one in A Hard Day’s Night.
