TUNING Up
New Members in the Band
Normally you’d see Trent Salter’s monthly column
here, but we’ve been asked to pinch-hit this month
and introduce ourselves to you. We’re the newest
members of the Premier Guitar team and we’re looking forward to helping PG become an even bigger
part of your world.
Gary Ciocci
In the accompanying photo it’s easy to tell who’s who.
Jon’s the one who looks like Curious George; Gary
could easily get a gig as stunt-double for CNN’s Wolf
Blitzer. Both of us come to Premier Guitar from the
media company that publishes Guitar Player, Bass
Player, Keyboard and EQ magazines. We’ve got a lot
of great friends there and we’ll miss the privilege of
working with them on a daily basis, but we’re excited
to be building new friendships here at Premier Guitar.
What brought us to PG? Well, we’re attracted to Premier
Guitar for the same reasons you are. We’re constantly
trying to improve our tone and our playing, and we’re
hungry for information that’ll help us sound better. That’s
why we’re part of the growing audience that has gravitated to Premier Guitar. Just like you, we dig PG’s in-depth gear coverage and relevant how-to tips.
Once we became fans, it was only natural that we’d
Jon Levy eventually want to get more involved. It’s kind of like
following a band that you really admire. After being in the audience for a few gigs,
you start itching to join the group. Luckily, nobody saw us scratching ourselves and
we passed our audition.
Our level of musicianship certainly isn’t stratospheric (Jeff Beck could easily outshine
either of us, even if he were wearing oven mitts) but we’re passionate about making
the most of our abilities. We have a ton of fun playing and we’ve even conceived a
few gear innovations of our own. A word to the wise: if Gary starts to tell you about
his idea for the Pasta Guitar, scramble for the nearest emergency exit.
Ultimately we’ll let the experts do what they do best – provide information on
musicianship, gear and technology – while we focus on what we do best: nurturing
a rallying point where editors, artists and manufacturers can come together as a
community and find ways of better serving you. In the process, we look forward to
hearing your suggestions, feedback and fantasies – well, maybe just the suggestions and feedback. But the point is that the entire Premier Guitar team is eager
to build a stronger connection with you in the years ahead.
Wherever we meet – in print, online or in person – we’ll always try to deliver the
goods and surprise you with cool stuff that you weren’t expecting. It’s your world
and we’re honored that you’ve invited us i
Guitars at the door.
