King’s X toured this summer with Extreme in support of
their fifteenth album, XV. Guitarist Ty Tabor (opposite
page) impressed the band’s rabid cult fan base with some
heavy-yet-melodic riffs.
Extreme was promoting a new album of their own,
Sau-dades de Rock, which is the band’s fifth album, and first
studio album in 13 years. Guitarist Nuno Bettencourt (this
page) and the band reunited in 2004 after nine years apart.
Extreme played in front of four full stacks, and while it’s
hard to say how many of the four were active, photographer
Rick Johnson said the show was, “The Who loud.”
