Charvel guitars were front and center in the eighties
heavy metal resurgence, which included acts like Ozzy
Osbourne and Van Halen. They carved the path for up-and-coming acts such as Ratt, Dokken, Def Leppard and
myriad other guitar-driven bands. Charvels were played
in rock clubs from Amsterdam to Hollywood and eventually on big stages like Madison Square Garden and
Budakon. These guitars instantly became the new “must
have” equipment for young rock guitar players looking
to make a name for themselves and their bands.
Charvels were the workhorses that many hit songs were
penned on, including some of the most fierce riffs, licks
and heavy metal anthems. The guitars were played often
and extensively, and a worn, dirty, broken-in Charvel
neck was just about as good as it got. This is what many
players have searched for as the new “holy grail” of high
gain, hot-rod guitars.
The Charvel Custom Shop collaborated with the Music
Zoo’s expert staff of players and techs to faithfully
recreate the look, sound and feel of an old workhorse
Charvel. The neck shape is profiled from a guitar in their
collection that has long been thought of as the store’s
“best neck ever.” The feel is closer to that of an early-six-ties Fender neck with a compound radius.
We thank Tommy and Dave at the Music Zoo for making
this exclusive Custom Shop run available on Gear Search.
