Dean Shredder Search
Winner Announced
After six months of searching and
over 1100 submissions, Dean Guitars
announced the winner of their 2008 “Get
Your Wings Shredder Search.”
Ed to Shred of Portland, Oregon emerged
victorious. Ed, also known on the web
as the “Nerd Guitar Man,” won over the
judges and fans with his yellow bowtie,
short-sleeved white oxford, thick-rimmed
glasses and fast-but-melodic playing. Ed
will take home over $10,000 worth of
Dean swag and have a chance to perform with Michael Angelo Batio at
Dean’s Dean Owners of America event
on February 27–28, 2009.
The international competition
featured entries from over 100
countries. Runners up were Mike
Sweeney of Quebec, Canada;
Hellman Jigokuotoko of Tokushima,
Japan; and Muris Varajic of Sarajevo,
Bosnia. This was the first year of
the Shredder Search. The winner
was chosen by a combination of
fan voting and celebrity judges that
included Vinnie Paul, Michael Angelo
Batio, Leslie West, Rusty Cooley,
Vinnie Moore, and others.
