FOR BEGINNER THROUGH UPPER INTERMEDIATE STUDENTS
CORE
Core classes are organized by level. Upon arrival, students meet
with our faculty and are guided into proper course and level.
ROCK
Students will study major and minor pentatonic scales, barre chords, power chords, bending, comping
techniques, arpeggios, harmonics, tapping, and many other rock techniques and repertoire.
JAZZ
Students will study jazz scale theory, chords, comping, phrasing, soloing, diatonic harmony, improvisation,
chord voicing, reharmonization, and many other jazz techniques and repertoire.
ACOUSTIC
Students will study the fundamentals of solo acoustic playing, vocals, strumming, finger-picking, chords,
improvisation and many other acoustic techniques and repertoire.
BLUES
Students will study pentatonic and blues scales, progressions, chord voicings, comping, soloing, improvisation,
and many other blues techniques and repertoire.
SONGWRITING
Students will write songs individually and as a group. Topics include diatonic theory and harmony, song
construction, lyric writing, melody, vocal technique, accompaniment, and many other songwriting techniques.
CLASSICAL
Students will be exposed to group activities, Master Classes, and ensembles. They will study left and right
hand techniques, scales, slurs, composition, and repertoire. Students are asked to arrive with 1-3 pieces from
their current repertoire.
BEGINNER INTENSIVES
perfect for both acoustic and electric players who have been playing for less than a year. Topics covered
include basic chord voicings, strumming patterns, fingerstyle techniques, music theory, how to perform with
a rhythm section, and more.
BASS
Students will study basic right and left hand positions, line development, improvisation, walking techniques,
scales, arpeggios, tapping, and many other bass techniques and repertoire of all styles.
DRUMS
Classes are in group and private lesson format. Students will study beginning and advanced use of rock
rhythms, fills, dexterity exercises, improvisation, syncopated rhythms, brush techniques, and many other
drum techniques and repertoire of all styles.
KEYBOARD
Students will be exposed to a variety of skills, including scales, chords, arpeggios, accompaniment,
improvisation, and more. Students will have the opportunity to explore a wide variety of styles.
SPECIAL INTEREST CLINICS
Students studying a Core course will also take daily Special Interest Clinics. These clinics are ninety minutes
long, and students choose a different subject to study each day. Topics such as alternate tunings, building
techniques, composition, improvisation, slide guitar, power practicing, voice technology, playing by ear, and
the music business will be covered.
