Rock Hall Inducts Beck, Metallica
Jeff Beck, Metallica, Wanda Jackson, and Bill
Black were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall
of Fame in Cleveland on April 4. The induction
was held at Cleveland’s Public Hall and was
broadcast live on FUSE Television Network.
Jeff Beck and Metallica were inducted
with Bobby Womack, Little Anthony & the
Imperials and Run-D.M.C. Rockabilly pioneer
Wanda Jackson was honored in the Early
Influence category, and Elvis bassist Bill
Black shared the Sidemen honor with DJ
Fontana and Spooner Oldham.
Metallica was inducted by Flea of the Red
Hot Chili Peppers, while Jimmy Page inducted Jeff Beck. The Rolling Stones’ Ron Wood
was also on hand to induct Bobby Womack.
This was the first time the induction ceremony had been in Cleveland since 1997.
It had been held in New York City in recent
years. The city hosted concerts, seminars
and exhibits the week prior to the induction,
including a B.B. King show at the House of
Blues, a discussion on the Hall of Fame’s
affect on the rock and roll history at Case
Western Reserve University, and the opening
of a new Bruce Springsteen Exhibit at the
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.
