Slash’s Next Signature Model a Tribute to Les Paul – Slash says the guitar will be
modeled after the ’ 86 modified ’ 59 reissue he recorded Appetite for Destruction with. He said
on Twitter (@slashhudson), “It will be my tribute to Les Paul the man & mentor.”
Oasis Outdoes Themselves – Never short on drama, Oasis’ Noel & Liam Gallagher
hit a new low when Noel quit the band on August 28. Why so bad? He quit just before they
were supposed to take the stage to headline the Rock en Seine festival in Paris.
Bad Month for Zakk Wylde – In August, Ozzy debuted new guitarist Gus G, and Zakk
Wylde was hospitalized for blood clots in his lungs and legs, cancelling Black Label Society tour
dates. We’d call this an “off,” but a source says that Zakk is going to be okay.
Rock Band Network: New Way to Distribute Your Music? – The popular Rock
Band music video game has announced new $160 software that will allow anyone to create
game tracks from their own tunes in a Pro Tools-like environment and submit them to be
purchased in the game. We’re not christening this the new i Tunes yet, but the potential
publicity and paycheck for lesser-known guitarists is hard to deny.

This month, we pay tribute to Les Paul with your
web comments from our online tribute, “The Wizard
of Waukesha Moves On: Les Paul—1915–2009”
I’ve had the good fortune to see Les perform a few times
and to get to know him. I even had the pleasure of attending his 91st birthday party. His guitar playing aside, he was
a fun, entertaining, and high-spirited individual who spread
his cheer wherever he went. Rest in Peace Les.

Whether you are a guitar player or not, all of our lives
have been touched or changed by this truly great man.
He forever changed the way music sounds and is made.
Thank you, sir. RIP Les Paul—you are the best.
– Audy Kimera
He must be smiling down on us right now with the realization that not
only did he live such an extraordinary life, but he left a legacy for generations of guitarists. Hey Les, say hello to Jimi, Wes, Stevie and all the other
guitar players up there! I’m sure there will be some great jam sessions
going on. Thank you for everything.
– Steve Crafts
Performed even in his golden
years. Great loss...RIP
– J.P.
Guitar genius, well ahead of his time. Without
the electric guitar where would 20th and 21st
century popular culture be now?....it was a
development that was as influential, and on
the same scale, as the motor car but without
all the downsides. RIP Mr Paul

One of the True
Legends of the
20th century.
I can say I saw him live that’s enough for
me to be happy to the end of my days.
– Jeff Taylor
Les should remembered like Albert Einstien,Alexander Hamilton Bell
and Thomas Edison. In fact, I think his inventions were far cooler!!!!
