Brave New Acoustic | Toronto – Session 1
with Michael Friedman and special guest
Tony McManus
Intermediate to Advanced players will move beyond the basic
essentials of acoustic guitar playing and into deeper layers of solo
performance and vocal accompaniment. Aside from flatpicking,
fingerpicking, chord harmony, scale theory, altered tunings,
ear training and general applied music theory, students will
forge onward into the realm of ornamentation—left hand rolls,
cuts, grace notes, right hand triplets, thumb triplets and the
Appalachian banjo technique of frailing using the back of
the nails and more. This course is a must for those who would
like to move their acoustic guitar playing off the plateau and
towards “Aerial Boundaries.”
