a lot of stuff, when you
think about it.”
– ollie South, on “The Psychology
of Tone” (February ’ 10)
“Another factor that isn’t discussed here is the disconnect
between what we hear and the “actual” tone of the guitar. We’re
hearing a recording, which introduces many more variables. You
can’t get EVH’s tone to come out of your speakers (even if every
piece of equipment is accurate up to the speaker cone), because
you’ve only ever heard EVH’s tone after it’s moved through the air,
been captured by a microphone, passed through XLR cables, etc.
before it’s EQ’d, compressed, and so forth at the mixing desk.
THEN it’s mixed, compressed some more, mastered, duplicated,
etc. , THEN it’s played through YOUR sound system and YOUR
speakers. How can we expect to recreate that sound using just
the very first part of the final tone?”
– Greg, on “The Psychology of Tone” (February ’ 10)
“That wouldn't be an issue as long as your
amp is putting out 1. 2 jigowatts. Obviously.”
– archer & Matt the Cat, on “Eminence Introduces
Flux Density Modulation Technology” (Daily News)
“Brilliant. You guys gave balls. Most
guys can’t wrap their brains around this
stuff. You went just far enough. Not too
deep. Very thought provoking.”
– Gopher., on “The Psychology of Tone” (February ’ 10)
“No matter what you think of Yngwie’s
playing or his music, you have to agree
that this is one of the cooler ways that has
been seen to raise money for Haiti, and
says a lot for each party. Props to Duncan
and YJM for doing their part.”
– BDD, on “Yngwie Winds Pickups for Haiti”
(Daily News)
