Jeff Baxter, Stanley Jordan and Martin Taylor. How High the Moon, indeed.
Convenient Battery Compartments – Cheers to the growing number of effects
manufacturers using easy-access battery compartments. There’s no reason we should be using
screwdrivers to change batteries in 2010.
John Mayer Loses It – After using the “N-word” in a Playboy interview (among other
gratuitously controversial statements), Mayer broke down on stage at a Nashville concert
saying, “I just want to play my guitar.” Funny, that’s all we want you to do, too.
Ticketmaster/Live Nation Merger – The Justice Department has finally approved the
merger of the ticket selling/artist management and concert promotion behemoths. It’s too
early to tell if this new beast of a vertically-aligned entertainment juggernaut, called Live
Nation Entertainment, is a good thing for both artists and music fans.
Abbey Road Studio on Thin Ice – EMI denied rampant rumors that they were putting
Abbey Road Studio for sale, but admitted they were looking for financial help. On February 23,
the British government granted protected status as a historical building. Still nervous from the
seemingly close call, we’re crossing our fingers that we’ve heard the last of the rumors.
