For players who have never ventured into the
realm of DIY gear construction, there’s a definite
learning curve. To be truly proficient, you have
to learn how each component works—both
by itself and in combination with others. Most
guitarists don’t have the patience for it. And
a lot of the ones who do get into altering or
building their own pedals do so simply because
they like to build or want to get their tones for
less money than they can be purchased for.
Of course, there’s also the thrill of changing a
few components and realizing that your pedal
sounds even more unbelievable than before.
That thrill is what keeps the DIY community
alive—and it’s what the new Z. Vex Inventobox
aims to make easier for players to experience.
