Johnny Winters’ well-worn ‘ 63 Gibson Firebird V,
as photographed before a recent show in Ontario.
The guitar has weathered three headstock crack
repairs, which is why the Gibson logo is missing.
Winters replaced the original Gibson Vibrola with
a stop tailpiece many years ago—note the nickel
plating on the bass side has been worn right down
to the pot metal.
