Rush Documentary to be
Released in June

Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage, the eagerly
awaited documentary about the Canadian
rock band is set to be released on DVD and
Blu-Ray on June 29. The movie traces the
history of the band from their humble begin-
nings in Toronto to becoming what bassist
Geddy Lee calls “the world’s most popular
cult band.”
Directors Sam Dunn and Scot McFadyen were
given unprecedented access to the band’s
archive for the making of the movie. The
documentary contains profiles on Lee, guitarist Alex Lifeson, and drummer Neil Peart; in
addition, the directors interview Jack Black,
Les Claypool, Kirk Hammett, Trent Reznor,
Mike Portnoy, and many more artists about
how Rush influenced them. The movie premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was
awarded the Heiniken Audience Award.

Benedetto Hosting
Jazz Guitar Retreat

Savannah, GA – In conjunction with the
Savannah Jazz Festival, Benedetto Guitars is
hosting a jazz guitar retreat from September
22–26 in Savannah, Georgia. Each morning participants will be given an exclusive tour of the
Benedetto factory and go to workshops with
Bob Benedetto, Howard Paul, and Production
Manager Evan Ellis. Workshop topics will
include archtop construction, laminated guitar
production, selecting the right archtop, and
archtop setup for the player. Bob’s Boutique
guitars will be available to sample, and participants can receive special discounts.
Also appearing at the event will be some of the
Benedetto Players. Howard Alden, Jack Wilkins,
Barry Greene, and Clint Strong will be on hand
to perform concerts and to lead workshops.
Each participant will receive a one-hour private
lesson from three of the four guest instructors.
The cost for the retreat is $2500 and includes
housing, workshops, admission to Savannah Jazz
Festival and three private lessons. Enrollment for
the event is limited to 12 participants.
