UK blues guru Matt Schofield takes his
A-string for a ride during the Montreal
Jazz Festival. He says Curt Mangan strings
(.011–.054) are a key element of his tone.
He’s pictured playing his SVL Sixty One
Daytona, which was built by his tech, luthier
Simon Victor Law. The guitar is based on
Schofield’s favorite guitar, a ’ 61 Fender Strat.
The SVL’s paint job was inspired by late-’60s
Ferrari Daytonas, and it features a one-piece
alder body outfitted with Suhr FL Classic
pickups, and a maple neck with a 7. 25"– 9. 5"
compound radius and Dunlop 6100 frets.
