JANICK GERS (cont’d)
2. Gers’ Gibson Chet Atkins acoustic/electric—which he plays during
the first minute of “Dance of Death”—is set up with extra-light strings.
3. Other than Seymour Duncan JB Jr. and Hot Rails pickups, Gers’
worn Fender Strat has no mods.
4. Gers’ rack includes a Shure UR4D wireless receiver, a Mesa/Boogie
Studio Preamp, and a Pete Cornish switcher/EQ system that looks like a
cross between a ’70s stereo and the control panel from an early sci-fi movie.
Gers uses extra-thick Pete Cornish cables for about 85 percent of a Maiden
show, but switches to the wireless system when he throws his guitar in the
air or engages in mock fights with the band’s mascot, Eddie, onstage.
5. This Korg A4 effects processor functions as a MIDI controller for
Gers’ Marshall JMP- 1 and Mesa/Boogie Studio Preamp. Gers’ tech
makes the program changes offstage.
