Jim McCarty wails on Fleetwood Mac’s “Oh Well” as
the latest iteration of the Rockets perform a homecoming show for an appreciative Detroit crowd.
McCarty went with his stock ’ 93 Les Paul Custom
and a ’ 64 blackface Twin for the gig. He used a Tube
Screamer and a 20-year old Tube Driver, which were
both engaged on the song. McCarty used ribbon mics
and a slight delay from the board for a stereo FOH
effect. Even with the amp’s volume control set to 3. 5,
McCarty says he had to keep playing to prevent the
amp from becoming unruly or feeding back.
