The new software incorporates Auto-Tune pitch detection and manipulation, along
with the company’s modeling
technology, in an entirely
DSP-based system. The technology promises flawless intonation and readily available
alternate tunings.
ATG- 6 incorporates a new
Solid-Tune Intonation system,
which monitors the precise pitch
of each individual string and
makes corrections necessary to
ensure that every note of every
chord and riff is in tune. The
system is designed to eliminate
the variables of finger position
and pressure that cause slight
intonation differences. Antares
says that the Solid-Tune system
can recognize when players
intend to manipulate the pitch
with bends and vibrato, and that
it can even be used to help bend
perfectly to the intended pitch.

Ellnora | The Guitar
Festival Announced
for September

URBANA, IL – The fourth biannual Ellnora | The Guitar
Festival has been announced for
September 8–10, 2011. Dubbed
an “immersive guitar blast,” the
preliminary artist lineup includes
Artist-in-Residence Luther
Dickinson [North Mississippi
Allstars, Black Crowes], Bill
Frisell, Richard Thompson,
Daniel Lanois’ Black Dub,
Adrian Belew, Calexico, Taj
Mahal, Robert Randolph, My
Brightest Diamond, and more.
The festival will feature
at least 10 free concerts and
nine paid events, including
the opening night party with
Toshi Reagon and BIGLovely,
Daniel Lanois’ Black Dub,
Russ Barenberg Trio, and Vieux
Farka Touré for only $5.
Also among the activities and
performances at the three-day
festival is the premiere of Bill
Frisell’s new collaboration with
Richard Thompson
experimental filmmaker Bill
Morrison entitled The Great
Flood, inspired by the 1927
Mississippi River floods.
The festival takes place at the
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s Krannert Center for
the Performing Arts. Full festival
passes include admission to all
ticketed events and range from
$75 (University of Illinois students) to $208 (general public).
