On the Wings Across America Tour, his
first U.S. tour after the Beatles’ last, Paul
McCartney brought the music of Wings
to the Windy City on the second night of
a three-night run. McCartney played his
Rickenbacker 4001 that was first used
on Rubber Soul, and then Revolver and
Sgt. Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band.
The bass started with a Fireglo finish
before getting a psychedelic paint job for
the Magical Mystery Tour film, and later,
stripped down to its natural maple.
